The entire world is focused on Staying Healthy! So whatever the story version you believe, we are at home now for a month, 6 weeks or more? So let's focus on our health, our choices and our healing our bodies. 
 

1. Let's do a Sacred check-in with Self/Soul/Body where am I at? Where do I want to be? Biography.
2.  Learn basic Dreamwork - and receive a dream of healing or information
3. Let's look at Foods, Choices and patterns of eating. 

4. What am I Thinking? We do know now, our thoughts create behavior patterns, that can develop into - addictions. 
5. Art Journaling putting it all down

"Art can heal us, inspire us, and alter our brain chemistry

With so much talk about the evidence of the positive effects of yoga and meditation, you might be surprised at what scientific research also says about how art effects the brain.

Long before modern neuroscience, artists were creating works to inspire people and today complex brain imaging scans can show us just how art changes the physiology of our brains. Contemplation, observing, and taking in beauty all stimulate pleasure centers within the brain while increasing blood flow by up to 10% in the medial orbitofrontal cortex.

This can lead to an elevated state of consciousness, wellbeing, and better emotional health. -Jacob Devaney



We live in our Body: most of us do not like all or parts of our bodies, and our beliefs & behaviors can create imbalances- both emotional and physical.
This class is designed to bring awareness, tenderness and affection back to our heart-mind-body through inquiry, self-reflection, creative writing and mixed media arts in order to reclaim and nurture this body we dwell within.  
 

Sit down next to any women and sooner rather than later, they will begin the litany of what they do not like about their "body." We have all heard ourselves do the same thing...over and over again. "How does our body respond to this constant criticism?" I wondered one day. 
 

I know how thoughts impact our lives and of course our bodies, but I had not considered the life-long demeaning knocks I have given my body until now. Adding to this the state of Fear in the world right now about not getting ill, this work is timely. 

Marion Woodman stated, “Many people can listen to their cat more intelligently than they can listen to their own despised body. Because they attend to their pet in a cherishing way, it returns their love. Their body, however, may have to let out an earth-shattering scream in order to be heard at all.

Join me, in this inner-work, dream, and Body-Art as a path of inquiry and intention toward healing my body. And I know many others  are interested in this topic!

the Body: Discovery

Hello friends,
This is a transformative Arts & Consciousness online class, an introduction to Art & Healing. Learn how to use your dreams to access information on health, use creative writing in our art journals,  as we gather information of on how we live in our body.  Topics cover food, self-image, body-image, age, emotional health and what if any imbalance we feel in our body. 
 

As we gather this information, we begin to see how we "dwell" in our body. This gives us "pictures" of our consciousness, as we move into the creative arts aspect, and create a healing body temple image for ourselves. 

Introduction to developing a dialogue with our Body. So let's start at the beginning. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin said, "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience." And that human experience is in OUr Body!

We want to get to know our body, if we want to bring healing to it, yes? We 
all know the "Affirmations" that are everywhere in art, home decor, pillow cases, tee-shirts, it's everywhere. And it's become almost meaningless, more a design element than a power for healing. So how do we start? 

We begin with tools I have developed over 35 years of teaching womenspirit© groups....
 

With Getting to Know Ourselves....there are creative writing questions that will give you information, and you can dive as deep as you want, discovering and uncovering ideas, beliefs & behaviors of living in your be-loved body.  
How do I live in this Body I call mine? 
Using the material that is arising we use our art journal as a tool for noting ideas, or something a dream has brought, we can make sketches of our ideas as we gather more information. This question covers lots of ground. Learning the Great Art of asking questions. 
Asking the proper question is the central action of transformation- in fairy tales, in analysis, and in individuation. The key question causes germination of consciousness. The properly shaped question always emanates from an essential curiosity about what stands behind. Questions are the keys that cause the secret doors of the psyche to swing open.

PROJECT 1 GETTING TO KNOW YOU

Biography; everyone of us is different with a one-of-a-kind life story. We will start with a "getting to know you" exercise so you will begin the journey of gathering knowledge of yourself. 

Set up sacred space in your home.

Also we open or start our art-dream journal and start writing on that blank page. Lots of material for information here.

PROJECT 2  FOOD RELATIONSHIPS & More

Let's take a look at nurturing. How we use food nurtures our body in healthy ways or we can stuff ourselves into numbness. We get to choose. 

We will look at food, alcohol, and other behaviors we have used over time as ways to cope with life's trials.

When we can identify our patterns, this gives us power, power to choose a new life path. 


 

PROJECTS  LIGHT ME?

We explore our hopes & longings for acceptance of ourselves and our bodies. Our journal is filled with dream snippets, as we reclaim some tenderness for bruised spirits and bodies.

Learn Mindfulness techniques and apply these concepts to problematic areas of our life.  

PROJECTS: DARK ME? 

Here we explore our "dark-side" the negative emotions about our body-image. This is a little deeper dive into exploring why we might have these feelings... society, family, fashion, and ads affect us.  

The key to creating a healing body portrait is to know and understand our "dark" side of negative self-talk, and this includes any shadow artist, the negative critic.


 

PROJECTS: CREATING PERSONAL RITUAL OF HEALING

Gathering all the tools, techniques and information you are ready to create a personal healing ritual. 

At the end of every session in my groups, we end with a retreat (which we are all in together!) and we create personal healing rituals to let go, to call in and to commit to a new way of life, a healing path of creative change.  


 

Body Collage

Now we start to consider the Body as the Tower (as in the Tarot) and exercises are given to expand our consciousness and open our arms to the gifts of being human with our soul and spirit inhabited body. 

Starting the Soul Body Collage Painting... I recommend 30x40 canvas or watercolor paper. I used 24" x 48" canvas and we are ready to get out all our art supplies and images! Here we explore, expand, imagine, intend a "healed" body. We are expanding our intention to images that bring life, light and the power of health into a body image.  

There is much more to reveal, but we do that in class context, in our sacred art play of body healing work. So much fun to uncover, reveal, bring to light, let go of outmoded patterns of behavior, and create a Sacred Feminine Art that is a personal totem that calls our soul to healing...the body, the heart & mind.

Online class is best viewed on laptop or desktop as it's designed for full viewing. You will receive a log-in classroom and password via email. 

One Month Class: 8 sessions meets two times a week Tuesday & Thursdays as the next lesson is opened in online classroom.

Class includes videos, writing and creative arts lessons. Inner-work tools and techniques given so you can begin your healing journey. 

 

Start Now! Where you are is okay. You do not have to be an artist to take this class everyone can benefit from this healing journey.

Meet Kristena West M.A. 

Kristena West received her Masters in Transformational Arts & Consciousness, a program that focused on how artists can change the world. Her thesis is on cross-cultural sacred iconography. BA is in academic and professional writing and psychology. Undergraduate is in Fine & Commercial Arts and Fashion Design.  

I have been an artist my entire life. I have been engaged in community arts, curated exhibitions and worked in fine art galleries since I was eighteen years old. I have always worked with groups.
 

I have 30 years training with shamans and have trained groups and clients in these ways of knowing. My question has always been with indigenous shamans, "What makes Art Sacred?" And these gifts of what I learned I bring to my work and to students who take my classes. 

Since 1990 I led women's and men's groups with the focus on inner-work, basic dream work, creative writing and arts, as well as developing personal rituals of healing. This deep work and I am happy to offer an online version in this class. 

Last year I learned video & podcasting so I can reach a wider audience online, so many friends who cannot find transformative arts classes can now do so.  This is the beauty and delight of Transformative Sacred Arts.
